Description

  • Own Snowflake role-based access, least-privilege grants, masking, PII controls, network policies, retention, and cost management.
  • Manage Terraform infrastructure, Snowflake environments, module design, state, and development-to-production promotion.
  • Own ingestion through Fivetran, third-party connectors, and custom extraction pipelines.
  • Lead orchestration, materialization, performance optimization, and incremental dbt model adoption.
  • Build schema-change detection, freshness SLAs, alerting, drift monitoring, and incident response processes.
  • Define dbt architecture, CI, testing, development workflows, packages, macros, and isolated contributor environments.
  • Develop foundational warehouse models, including staging patterns, conformed dimensions, shared entities, and SCDs.
  • Establish data retention and customer-data handling controls, including AI agent access safeguards.
  • Define AI-assisted development workflows using Claude Code, agents, evaluations, and MCP integrations.
  • Mentor engineers and analysts, document systems, and set technical standards for data engineering.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of data engineering experience, including staff-level or senior individual-contributor technical leadership.
  • Deep Snowflake administration experience, including role hierarchies, least-privilege access, service-account scoping, masking, PII controls, and cost management.
  • Strong Python and SQL skills with production experience in ingestion, orchestration, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Advanced dbt experience with modeling, macros, incremental models, testing, and slim or state-based CI.
  • Experience creating dbt developer workflows and guardrails for contributors with varied technical backgrounds.
  • Experience with medallion or equivalent layered warehouse architecture and Terraform-managed infrastructure.
  • Experience building governance and access controls in an environment subject to audit.
  • Track record establishing data reliability practices, including SLAs, alerting, incident response, and schema-change detection.
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted development, agentic pipeline design, skill-based workflows, and MCP servers.
  • Preferred: experience with regulated data, ML or GenAI workloads, Snowflake Cortex, feature stores, unstructured data, or B2B SaaS.
