Description

  • Review workplace injury, illness, fatality, catastrophe, and severe incident records.
  • Apply BLS Occupational Injury and Illness Classification System (OIICS) codes to case characteristics.
  • Use independent judgment to classify complex or ambiguous cases accurately and consistently.
  • Draft concise incident narratives in clear, plain language.
  • Manage multiple work queues and deadlines while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with analysts and senior team members on guidance, quality checks, and knowledge sharing.
  • Contribute to documentation, process improvements, and evolving analytical practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, health or environmental science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
  • 0–5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to apply rules consistently.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently remotely.
  • Experience or strong interest in data analysis, public health, occupational safety, epidemiology, or related fields.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new software and technical skills.
  • Experience with structured classification or coding systems such as OIICS or ICD is preferred.
  • Experience or coursework in data analysis, data management, occupational health, injury surveillance, or public health research is preferred.
