Description

  • Map the AI resilience landscape to identify critical bottlenecks and keystone capabilities.
  • Source and evaluate ideas for new projects and organizations, including designing funding calls with funders.
  • Build founding teams and recruit early employees for new organizations.
  • Coach founders on technical and organizational roadmaps, fundraising, and startup operations.
  • Serve as a Director on multiple FRO boards and guide milestones, funding, strategy, hiring, and operations.
  • Develop theses and portfolios spanning areas such as biosecurity, cyber-physical systems, epistemic infrastructure, AI evaluation, compute governance, and economic modeling.
  • Represent Convergent Research with philanthropic and public funders.
  • Contribute to organization-wide initiatives, including Founder Retreats and Residencies.

Requirements

  • Detailed understanding of the 2026 AI landscape, including organizations, technologies, motivations, and timelines.
  • Ability to identify tractable AI-related risks and propose technical methods and organizations to address them.
  • Ideas or a credible plan for large-scale efforts that improve societal resilience during the AI transition.
  • Ability to develop, defend, and critically evaluate philanthropic funding theses.
  • Technical fluency in frontier AI and the ability to distinguish substantive bottlenecks from fashionable topics.
  • A deep professional network in AI or adjacent fields.
  • Experience working at a startup, venture firm, or as a founder, with practical knowledge of startup operations.
  • Experience raising money, managing budgets, writing technical roadmaps, and hiring.
  • Experience assembling and leading teams to accomplish difficult technical goals.
  • Experience with boards, governance, or nonprofit leadership, plus strong communication and execution skills.

  • Salary range of $200,000–$350,000.
