Description

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the mainframe systems programs organization, driving accountability and outcome-based delivery.
  • Lead teams responsible for z/OS and ISV lifecycle management, including subsystem upgrades for CICS, MQ, DB2, and IMS across multiple clients.
  • Drive adoption of AI-driven operations, z/OSMF workflows, and Ansible for z/OS to improve automation, resiliency, and maintenance cycles.
  • Oversee z/OS system programming, ISV upgrades and maintenance, and RSU planning and implementation to maintain platform stability and compliance.
  • Challenge traditional service delivery models and advance automation and AI/ML initiatives to improve scalability, efficiency, and service quality.
  • Influence and inspire teams to meet delivery commitments while fostering ownership, agility, and engineering excellence.
  • Communicate complex technical and operational topics clearly to leadership, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partner with solutioning and sales on new opportunities and presales efforts.
  • Use systems, data, and metrics to track performance, benchmark progress, and drive measurable outcomes.
  • Ensure audit readiness and compliance through governance, documentation, and control adherence across engagements.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent relevant work experience in place of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Ability to manage up, down, and across organizations, clients, and functions.
  • Strong experience managing z/OS, ISV, and subsystem upgrades using both traditional and modern approaches.
  • Experience in diverse mainframe technical environments, including mainframe infrastructure, hardware, or system programming.
  • Strong communication skills to lead effectively at the client, team, and business unit levels.
  • Experience leading complex projects and programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project.
  • Knowledge in one or more areas of mainframe discipline (preferred).
  • ITIL or ITSM oversight or expertise in Release, Change, and CMDB (preferred).
  • Knowledge of SMP/E or maintenance routines, z/OSMF, Python, zOAU, system IPL processes, NIST, COBIT, ITIL, ValIT, PMI-ACP, PMP, PRINCE, PMBOK, or Lean Six Sigma for Managers (preferred).
