Description

  • Define, lead, and contribute to the evolution of Elasticsearch’s core search and indexing capabilities.
  • Set technical vision and direction for indexing, query execution, retrieval, and relevance infrastructure.
  • Research advances in search infrastructure, data structures, and retrieval algorithms.
  • Shape long-term technical roadmaps with partner and product teams.
  • Lead projects from concept through completion, including technical design and implementation.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert across key Elasticsearch domains.
  • Mentor expert engineers through technical and professional guidance.
  • Collaborate with distributed engineering teams through design, code review, and consensus-driven development.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading technical projects in search infrastructure and distributed systems.
  • Experience building and operating sophisticated, large-scale search platforms and high-performance software systems.
  • Experience defining long-term technical vision for a core search or retrieval system across teams or organizations.
  • Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, Lucene, Solr, or comparable search and indexing technologies.
  • Strong Core Java skills, including advanced data structures, concurrency constructs, and modern language features such as lambdas.
  • Deep understanding of search systems, indexing, retrieval, algorithms, and search data structures.
  • Ability to work autonomously and guide complex projects from concept to completion.
  • Experience mentoring senior or expert engineers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for distributed, cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience with open-source projects, source-control workflows, and continuous integration preferred.

  • Base salary of 326,400–516,400 RON, with no variable compensation component.
