Description

  • Own the architecture, design, and execution of closure systems for the autonomous delivery vehicle.
  • Develop robust access systems that operate safely and reliably across millions of delivery cycles.
  • Partner with industrial design, vehicle architecture, systems engineering, manufacturing, reliability, and operations teams.
  • Create closure systems that meet durability, cost, and manufacturability requirements for a commercial autonomous fleet.
  • Contribute to the form and function of a high-profile delivery robot.
  • Solve first-of-their-kind engineering problems at the intersection of robotics, automotive engineering, and logistics.
  • Move products from concept to real-world deployment with immediate operational impact.
  • Review CAD, troubleshoot hardware on the prototype floor, and support manufacturing engineers to improve assembly quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience designing automotive body, closure, or mechanism systems from concept through production.
  • Experience with commercial vehicles, autonomous vehicles, robotics, or high-duty-cycle products is a strong plus.
  • Deep expertise in closure mechanisms including hinges, latches, actuators, linkages, counterbalance systems, and environmental sealing.
  • Experience designing for high-volume manufacturing using sheet metal stamping, castings, injection molding, extrusions, and welded assemblies.
  • Extensive CAD experience with NX (preferred), SolidWorks, or CATIA.
  • Experience with complex assemblies and robust parametric models.
  • Strong skills in tolerance analysis, stack-up management, GD&T, and mechanical interface design.
  • Understanding of structural design, fatigue, durability, corrosion prevention, and environmental sealing for outdoor products.
  • Experience using simulation tools such as FEA, kinematic analysis, MATLAB, or Python to validate concepts.
