Description

  • Review, verify, code, and process subcontractor and supplier invoices accurately before payment.
  • Match invoices to job records and identify discrepancies or unexplained cost variances.
  • Track committed costs and actual spend at both job and company level to monitor margins.
  • Prepare and submit invoices to insurer clients within the agreed 22-day payment window.
  • Produce monthly management accounts, including profit and loss accounts and cash flow forecasts.
  • Prepare weekly aged debtor and aged creditor summaries.
  • Provide cost-per-claim analysis to support profitability review by job type.
  • Highlight financial risks, anomalies, and control issues proactively.
  • Maintain accurate financial records in line with HMRC, Companies House, GDPR, and company policies.
  • Support year-end close and liaise with external accountants as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a financial analyst or management accountant role.
  • Strong experience with financial modelling, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and complex formulas.
  • Solid understanding of profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
  • Practical experience supporting month-end close processes.
  • Strong understanding of job costing or project-based accounting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving, growing business where processes are still being built.
  • Professional qualification such as CMA, CPA, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent (desirable).
  • Experience in the insurance, construction, remediation, or property services sector (desirable).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based accounting software such as Xero or QuickBooks (desirable).
  • Experience supporting a business through rapid growth or operational change (desirable).
  • Previous experience as a fractional or portfolio finance professional (desirable).
