Description

  • Establish and maintain accounting and bookkeeping practices, identifying and fixing gaps in current processes.
  • Own tax compliance across state and international jurisdictions as the business expands.
  • Define, calculate, and report financial metrics used to guide leadership decisions.
  • Prepare financial documentation for fundraising, board reporting, and investor relations.
  • Oversee procurement integrity by verifying that goods and services match purchase orders and payments.
  • Audit billing for server hardware, colocation, and software licenses to ensure accuracy.
  • Validate commissions and other incentive compensation calculations.
  • Drive improvements to billing complexity and other finance-related operational inefficiencies.
  • Mentor and eventually build out the accounting function as the company grows.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of finance experience, including meaningful time as a controller, VP of Finance, or CFO.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting, bookkeeping, and financial reporting.
  • Track record of managing multi-jurisdiction tax compliance, including US state and international obligations.
  • Experience building or formalizing finance operations at a startup or high-growth company.
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort owning metrics and models used by leadership.
  • Willingness to work in a scrappy environment and do the work directly before delegating.
  • Experience with usage-based billing models or SaaS revenue recognition is preferred.
  • CPA, CFA, MBA, or a similar credential is preferred.
  • Prior experience in fintech, trading, or a high-growth tech startup is preferred.
  • Experience preparing materials for fundraising rounds is preferred.
