Description

  • Own daily finance operations, including accurate records, reconciliations, month-end close, and management reporting.
  • Prepare financial statements, identify discrepancies and risks, and provide visibility into business performance.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow planning.
  • Prepare and submit construction progress and payment claims within required timeframes.
  • Manage job-based billing, outstanding claims, invoicing, debtor follow-up, and payment collection.
  • Manage financial processes and data across Xero and WorkflowMax, including exports, imports, and discrepancy resolution.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll processing.
  • Review and improve finance workflows, controls, system integrations, and documented procedures.
  • Potentially assume responsibility for GST, FBT, year-end preparation, and broader compliance activities.

Requirements

  • 4–6 years of experience in financial management, accounting, or a senior hands-on finance role.
  • Strong practical experience with Xero and demonstrated proficiency in WorkflowMax.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with Microsoft 365.
  • Experience preparing construction payment claims and progress claims.
  • Strong understanding of job-based and project-based billing.
  • Proven experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Strong financial and management reporting capability.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership, and proactively improve systems and processes.
  • High attention to detail and a structured problem-solving approach.
  • Experience in New Zealand construction, trades, tiling, or project-based businesses; knowledge of GST, FBT, and year-end preparation preferred.
