Description

  • Lead and stand up cross-functional Innovation Delivery squads and manage their lifecycle from discovery → prototype → product → platform & SRE.
  • Scope, architect, staff, and ship AI-native products across web, mobile, AI agents, and streaming backends, then operate them safely at scale.
  • Design and deliver RAG and agent systems: select models, define tools/functions, and choose retrieval architectures (Postgres + pgvector by default; scale to Weaviate/Qdrant/Pinecone when needed).
  • Implement orchestration and durable workflows for agents and long-running tasks, and manage prompt/tool versioning and rerankers.
  • Establish and enforce AI safety controls including evals and guardrails, structured outputs (JSON/schemas), PII redaction, refusal policies, and cost/latency budgets.
  • Own delivery outcomes including SLOs, quality, cost, velocity, and release management using feature flags and canary deployments.
  • Act as a client-facing technical lead for discovery, scoping, statements of work, roadmaps, and quarterly business reviews.
  • Hire, coach, and develop Tech Leads, Engineering Managers, and Product Managers, and level up engineering and delivery practices.

Requirements

  • 8–12+ years of engineering experience with 4+ years leading multi-team delivery.
  • Experience shipping production web and mobile systems at scale.
  • Shipped at least one production AI application using models such as Anthropic Claude, OpenAI/GPT, Google/Gemini, or open-weight models (Llama, Mistral) backed by retrieval (pgvector or a vector DB) and a basic eval/guardrail pipeline.
  • Hands-on experience with orchestration and agent frameworks (LangGraph or DSPy) and durable workflow engines (Temporal) for long-running tasks and SLAs.
  • Experience implementing rerankers (e.g., Cohere, Jina, Voyage) and prompt/tool versioning.
  • Practical experience with retrieval systems: Postgres + pgvector as default and operational/vector DBs (Weaviate, Qdrant, Pinecone) for scale; familiarity with hybrid search (OpenSearch, Typesense).
  • Familiarity with embeddings and rerank models (OpenAI/Voyage/E5/BGE) and guardrail/eval tooling (JSON/Pydantic schemas, promptfoo, Ragas, DeepEval).
  • Experience with observability and monitoring for LLMs and services (OpenTelemetry traces including prompt/tool spans; Langfuse/Arize Phoenix or equivalents; Sentry; Grafana).
  • Strong cloud and infra experience with serverless/Kubernetes, Terraform/OpenTofu, Cloud Run/ECS, GitHub Actions, and feature-flag/experimentation platforms (LaunchDarkly, Unleash, Statsig, GrowthBook).
  • Excellent client communication and commercial skills, including writing Statements of Work, staffing decisions, and utilization management.
