Description

  • Own the company’s infrastructure across Proxmox clusters, AWS workloads, and self-hosted services such as SSO, wikis, observability, and internal applications.
  • Design the architecture, ship infrastructure as code, and maintain runbooks for the platform stack.
  • Build and deliver internal tools, dashboards, AI agents, and workflow automations for ventures and internal teams.
  • Write code directly as part of the platform team, not only review other engineers’ work.
  • Partner with venture leads to scope, design, and ship AI workflows tailored to each business’s day-to-day needs.
  • Serve as the primary contact for department heads who want to introduce AI into their workflows.
  • Lead IT operations, including identity management, endpoint management, access reviews, and reliability work that keeps the organization productive.
  • Translate business problems from stakeholders into technical specifications that the team can implement.
  • Manage three direct reports across IT, infrastructure, and tools/apps, with the team expected to grow as needs expand.
  • Work alongside an AI DevOps agent and use AI tools such as Claude or Cursor as part of the normal operating model.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience in software development, DevOps, or platform engineering.
  • A background that started in development and evolved into DevOps or platform engineering while continuing to write code.
  • Experience managing small teams of 2-5 people successfully.
  • Strong organizational discipline with a habit of keeping SOPs, runbooks, and documentation current.
  • Ability to communicate clearly across functions and convert ambiguous business needs into working technical specs.
  • Hands-on daily use of AI coding tools such as Claude or Cursor.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and building the roadmap rather than waiting for one to be provided.
  • Preference for broad platform ownership rather than a deep specialist track such as pure SRE, observability, or security.
  • Not a fit for candidates who have not shipped code in years or who want to stop coding.
  • Not a fit for candidates who see AI in the workflow as noise rather than an advantage.
