Description

  • Lead and run cross-functional Innovation Delivery Squads through Discovery → Prototype → Product → Platform & SRE, owning outcomes end-to-end.
  • Scope, architect, staff, and ship AI-native products across web, mobile, AI agents, and streaming backends, then operate them safely at scale.
  • Design and ship RAG/agent systems: select model providers, define tools/functions, and architect retrieval layers (default Postgres + pgvector; scale to vector DBs when needed).
  • Implement orchestration and durable workflows for agents (e.g., LangGraph/DSPy, Temporal) and integrate prompt/tool versioning and rerankers.
  • Define and enforce AI safety practices: evals and guardrails, structured JSON/schema outputs, PII redaction, refusal policies, and cost/latency budgets.
  • Own delivery metrics and release practices including SLOs, quality, cost, velocity, feature flags, and canary rollouts, and ensure LLM observability.
  • Be client-facing for discovery, scoping, Statements of Work, roadmaps, and Quarterly Business Reviews.
  • Hire, coach, and level up Tech Leads, Engineering Managers, and Product Managers and establish strong engineering and delivery practices.

Requirements

  • 8–12+ years engineering experience with 4+ years leading multi-team delivery.
  • Experience shipping production web and mobile systems at scale.
  • Shipped at least one production AI application using Claude/GPT/Gemini/Llama/Mistral backed by retrieval (pgvector or a vector DB) and a basic eval/guardrail pipeline.
  • Experience implementing orchestration/durable workflows (LangGraph or DSPy for graphs; Temporal for durable, long-running tasks and SLAs).
  • Hands-on experience with rerankers and embeddings (e.g., Cohere, Jina, Voyage; OpenAI/Voyage/E5/BGE) and hybrid retrieval approaches.
  • Practical experience with retrieval stacks: Postgres + pgvector (default); Weaviate, Qdrant, or Pinecone for scale; OpenSearch/Typesense for hybrid search.
  • Built systems on modern cloud and data platforms: serverless/Kubernetes, Terraform/OpenTofu, OpenTelemetry, and feature-flag/experimentation platforms (LaunchDarkly/Unleash, Statsig/GrowthBook).
  • Proficiency in LLM observability and monitoring tooling (OpenTelemetry traces with prompt/tool spans; Langfuse/Arize Phoenix or equivalent; Sentry/Grafana).
  • Strong client communication and commercial skills (scoping, Statements of Work, staffing, utilization).
  • Familiarity with application and data stacks: Next.js 15 (RSC), TypeScript/Go/Python, Postgres, Kafka/Redpanda/NATS; dbt/lakehouse experience is optional.
