Description

  • Conduct research and draft responses for post-conviction motions, direct appeals, and pretrial criminal motions.
  • Review, prepare, and process complex legal documents, including motions, pleadings, subpoenas, and related filings.
  • Gather needed information from case files, law enforcement agencies, civil client agencies, and other sources.
  • Prepare legal actions such as indictments, complaints, search warrants, judgments, notices, affidavits, and summonses.
  • Assist attorneys with trial notebooks, jury instructions, and witness and exhibit lists.
  • Prepare discovery materials for plaintiffs and defendants in accordance with governing rules and attorney approval.
  • Verify citations and statutory references using legal research resources and ensure consistency with source material.
  • Compose letters and produce written materials using office software applications.
  • Maintain, organize, and transfer client attorney files, records, exhibits, and supporting documents.
  • Integrate tables, charts, and other content from databases and spreadsheets into word processing or desktop publishing documents.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience on litigation support projects.
  • Proven ability to interact successfully with clients and attorneys.
  • Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems.
  • Experience with legal research procedures and legal research resources.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Hands-on familiarity with word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and imaging software.
  • Hands-on familiarity with document review and file management systems.
  • Experience with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures and resources.
  • Law degree required.
