Description

  • Own the mobile platform architecture for MetaMask Mobile.
  • Define and evolve the architecture across React Native and native mobile codebases.
  • Make technical tradeoffs between JavaScript/TypeScript, React Native, and native implementations.
  • Design and steward core platform systems such as OTA, analytics, data persistence, auth, and VPN/geolocation primitives.
  • Lead high-impact cross-team initiatives and large platform upgrades or migrations.
  • Drive performance and stability improvements across startup time, crashes, ANRs, jank, memory usage, and bundle size.
  • Improve developer experience through better tooling, local development workflows, build and test pipelines, and release processes.
  • Establish shared patterns for navigation, state management, and platform primitives.
  • Integrate AI/LLMs into mobile engineering workflows to improve productivity, code quality, testing, and feedback loops.
  • Define metrics, dashboards, and practices that help teams monitor and own app health.
  • Mentor senior and staff engineers and influence technical direction across Wallet Platform and MetaMask.
  • Lead design and architecture reviews and help shape hiring and engineering culture.

Requirements

  • 10+ years building and scaling mobile apps, including ownership of large production React Native or hybrid mobile platforms.
  • Prior Staff or Principal-level experience leading complex cross-team technical initiatives.
  • Deep production experience with React Native, including architecture, performance, debugging, and bridging.
  • Experience with native iOS development in Swift or SwiftUI and/or Android development in Kotlin or Jetpack.
  • Experience building native modules and tuning mobile performance.
  • Strong understanding of mobile CI/CD, release engineering, and OTA systems.
  • Experience building internal platforms, shared libraries, or tooling for other engineers.
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity and design durable, reusable solutions.
  • Strong architecture and communication skills with the ability to align diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to influence without authority, mentor senior engineers, and raise engineering standards.
  • Experience or strong interest in using AI/LLMs to improve developer productivity and code quality.
  • Bonus: experience with crypto, Web3, wallets, fintech, or other security-sensitive apps.
  • Bonus: contributions to open source in React Native, mobile, performance, or tooling.
  • Bonus: experience optimizing apps for emerging markets or low-end devices.
  • Bonus: experience working in fully remote, globally distributed teams.
  • Applicants must pass background checks, including employment, education, and criminal record checks.
  • US-based candidate salary range: $227,000 to $272,000 USD, excluding bonus, equity, or other benefits.
