Description

  • Negotiate first-of-a-kind agreements with strategic partners and sophisticated counterparties in finance, payments, and digital currency.
  • Provide full product life-cycle legal counsel for prime brokerage, custody, derivatives, and related products.
  • Advise on legal issues, risks, and company policies in a risk-tolerant but compliance-oriented environment.
  • Monitor and advise on digital currency and blockchain technology legal and regulatory developments.
  • Lead and support complex cross-functional initiatives across Institutional Sales, Business Development, Product/Engineering, Finance/Tax, and Compliance.
  • Collaborate with legal colleagues and business partners to solve problems, build partnerships, and close deals quickly.
  • Develop practical, scaled approaches to managing risk and enabling business growth.
  • Support the business as it plans, builds, and executes its transactional and product roadmap.
  • Act as a proactive business partner to internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Licensed attorney with at least 5 years of experience in a financial services institution or a law firm serving financial services clients.
  • Strong negotiation experience with financial agreements, including prime brokerage, lending, and derivatives documentation.
  • Strong background in commercial and transactional legal work.
  • Interest in digital currency and blockchain technology.
  • Experience working with and leading cross-functional, globally located teams.
  • Familiarity with U.S., EU, or U.K. regulatory regimes applicable to financial instruments.
  • Excellent judgment, analytical rigor, clear communication, and business pragmatism.
  • Experience owning projects from concept to finish.
  • Attention to detail and ownership of processes from start to finish.
  • Team-oriented and collaborative mindset.
  • Preferred: experience supporting product teams launching fintech, financial services, investment, or similar products.
  • Preferred: experience registering and perfecting collateral arrangements.
  • Preferred: experience with bankruptcy rules and regulations.
  • Preferred: experience with cross-border analysis.
  • Preferred: experience using Edgar and analyzing regulatory filings.
