Description

  • Identify relevant regulatory requirements for Coinbase Bermuda and ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Monitor Bermuda regulatory developments and coordinate changes needed to maintain compliance.
  • Provide regular compliance and regulatory updates to senior management and the Coinbase Bermuda Board of Directors.
  • Escalate compliance incidents or material issues to compliance leadership, business leadership, and the Board as appropriate.
  • Oversee regulatory notifications, comment letters, and other day-to-day communications with regulators.
  • Lead Compliance Risk Assessments and ensure systems and controls adequately manage risk.
  • Update policies and procedures to reflect changing regulatory and business requirements.
  • Oversee compliance training for local employees.
  • Drive timely remediation of findings from internal audit, regulatory exams, and self-identified issues.
  • Partner with Compliance and Product stakeholders to embed compliance obligations into new products or expansion initiatives.
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and senior management to support an effective integrated control environment.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in compliance, including senior leadership roles.
  • Direct, first-hand knowledge of financial services and anti-money laundering regulations in Bermuda.
  • Direct experience liaising with the Bermuda Monetary Authority.
  • Ability to independently manage day-to-day aspects of a Compliance Program, including audits and exams.
  • Experience building Compliance Programs.
  • Experience developing and administering internal controls and processes.
  • Proven ability to partner and collaborate with remote, global teams.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of business functions, with emphasis on senior management.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate and execute strategies across a global organization.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, external stakeholders, and vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots such as LibreChat, Gemini, and Glean in daily workflows, with human-in-the-loop practices.
  • Prior experience at a cryptocurrency or fintech company preferred.
  • Professional compliance or finance qualification and membership in a recognized professional body preferred.

Benefits

  • Annual base salary range of $252,620 to $297,200 USD, depending on work location.
  • Potential equity compensation.

  • Remote role that can be based outside Bermuda in the US, UK, or Ireland.
  • Travel to Bermuda approximately four times per year is expected and supported.
