Description

  • Increase visibility into cloud spend through clear reporting and dashboards by service, environment, team, and product.
  • Analyze cloud usage, trends, and unit economics to identify optimization opportunities such as rightsizing, reservations, scheduling, and waste reduction.
  • Partner with Engineering and Finance to embed cost considerations into design decisions, capacity planning, and budgeting cycles.
  • Implement and tune spend anomaly alerts and monitors, investigate spikes, and drive corrective actions with owners.
  • Develop cloud cost forecasts and scenarios to support contracts, vendor negotiations, and growth planning.
  • Establish and maintain tagging, allocation, showback, and chargeback standards to improve accountability and decision-making.
  • Recommend and operationalize tools and automations for cloud cost analysis, reporting, and FinOps scaling.
  • Educate stakeholders on cloud economics, unit metrics, and best practices to build a culture of cost awareness.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed to support business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in FinOps, cloud cost management, or a related role optimizing cloud spend in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Proficiency with cloud billing models and cost structures, including on-demand, reserved instances, savings plans, and committed use.
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel and experience using BI or FinOps tools for cost analysis and visualization.
  • Familiarity with native cloud cost tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, and Google Billing.
  • Ability to communicate technical and financial concepts clearly to engineering and finance stakeholders.
  • Collaborative, outcomes-focused working style.
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner or similar cloud financial management certification preferred.
  • Experience scripting or automating cost data collection and reporting with Python or provider APIs preferred.
  • Experience implementing showback/chargeback, unit cost metrics, and KPI frameworks such as cost per customer, environment, or feature preferred.
  • Exposure to contract and vendor negotiations, including RI/Savings Plans, committed use, and enterprise agreements preferred.
  • Knowledge of sustainability metrics such as workload efficiency and scheduling preferred.
