Description

  • Oversee financial and accounting services for assigned clients, including financial statements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense tracking by grant, and ad hoc reporting.
  • Review financial statements prepared by accounting teams to ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Prepare annual budgets and monthly forecasts while providing insight into clients’ financial condition.
  • Lead annual financial and governmental A-133 audits, including work paper preparation and coordination with auditors.
  • Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of all compliance reporting.
  • Serve as a fiscal liaison to authorizers, counties, and state and federal agencies.
  • Train client staff on internal controls and ensure procedures are properly implemented and followed.
  • Work with organizational leaders and executives to communicate financial information clearly and effectively.
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with client leadership and staff.
  • Mentor staff and support their continued professional growth within Charter Impact teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
  • Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting is highly desired.
  • 7 years of experience is required, including some experience overseeing and developing staff.
  • Experience in a professional service firm, such as a CPA firm, is a plus.
  • Experience in charter school finance and operations is a plus.
  • Non-profit accounting experience is a plus.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is highly desired but not required.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to work closely with clients and internal teams in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with high organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and multitask without daily direct supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Knowledge of Sage Intacct or similar nonprofit accounting systems.
  • Ability to work remotely from AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, ID, IL, MI, NV, OR, SD, TX, UT, or WA.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
