Description

  • Serve as outsourced CFO for assigned nonprofit clients, overseeing all finance, accounting, and compliance reporting.
  • Oversee financial and accounting services and direct internal teams on financial statement preparation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense tracking by grant, and grant reporting for governmental and private grants.
  • Review all client financial statements prepared by Accounting teams to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Prepare annual budgets and monthly forecasts and provide actionable insight into clients' financial condition.
  • Oversee annual financial and governmental audits, including work paper preparation and serving as liaison with auditors.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all compliance reporting and act as a fiscal liaison to applicable agencies.
  • Provide training to client staff to implement and maintain internal controls and work with organizational leaders to communicate financial information.
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with client leadership and staff and maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry funding and trends.
  • Mentor and develop Charter Impact staff and collaborate with the Business Development team to develop sales strategies, support prospecting, and identify growth opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required; Master's degree in Finance or Accounting highly desired.
  • 7 years of experience, including oversight and development of staff.
  • Experience in non-profit finance and operations highly desired; experience in a professional services firm (e.g., CPA firm) and experience in charter school finance are pluses.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) highly desired but not required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; knowledge of Sage Intacct or similar nonprofit accounting systems.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and multitask as a self-starter without daily direct supervision.
  • Eligible to work remotely from AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, ID, IL, MI, NV, OR, SD, TX, UT, or WA and able to travel up to 25%.
