Description

  • Manage the multi-year grant lifecycle for a portfolio of global implementation partners, including proposal review, progress report approval, milestone tracking, and timeline management.
  • Oversee program performance against a defined performance framework by setting expectations, tracking objectives and indicators, reviewing reports, and conducting field visits.
  • Use monitoring and evaluation findings to improve partner implementation and share effective WASH strategies and innovations where relevant.
  • Identify technical and operational improvement opportunities and manage external technical consultants when needed.
  • Build and maintain strong partner relationships grounded in trust, candor, mutual accountability, and quality across cultures and languages.
  • Support portfolio goals, special initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration across the organization.
  • Drive continuous improvement in internal systems and external program quality, sustainability, cost-effectiveness, transparency, and impact.
  • Support the team’s AI transition by piloting and adopting AI tools with appropriate human oversight.
  • Support the identification, vetting, and onboarding of new global WASH partnerships.
  • Manage or mentor a Water Programs Associate and coordinate administrative support across the team.
  • Manage consultants supporting program evaluations or technical initiatives and integrate findings into partnership strategy.
  • Prepare program content for donor reports, presentations, and impact story requests, and engage with donor audiences as needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience managing a WASH funding portfolio at a grantmaking organization or developing WASH programs in international contexts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage partnerships or programs against a defined performance framework, including defining objectives, tracking progress, and acting on results.
  • Experience engaging external technical resources to complement in-house capacity.
  • Willingness and ability to manage and develop a team.
  • Master’s degree in a related field such as public health, environmental engineering, or water science (preferred).
  • Experience managing sustainable rural WASH grant portfolios or partnerships (preferred).
  • Experience capacity-building with international NGO partners, especially in West Africa (preferred).
  • Fluency in French (preferred).
  • Direct international experience implementing WASH programs, including monitoring and evaluation, budget analysis, and data collection platforms (preferred).
  • Experience working across cultures and in low- and middle-income countries.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Ability to travel to the field up to 20% of the time.
