Description

  • Participate in a systematic review of wastewater sampling methods used to measure drug consumption and serve as the main liaison to NCEH staff leading the effort.
  • Act as the DOP liaison to the APHL wastewater analysis community of practice and share updates with OADS and OD2A cooperative agreement staff.
  • Coordinate alignment between state-funded OD2A staff and state wastewater activity partners to ensure related efforts are connected.
  • Assist APHL in developing an ethical framework for wastewater analysis for drug consumption.
  • Support NCEH in developing standards and methods for wastewater surveillance and contribute to technical guidance as needed.
  • Help manage the overall wastewater project, including defining objectives, deliverables, timelines, and responsible parties.
  • Join meetings with CDC, APHL, and other partners to communicate progress and gather input.
  • Collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholders across CDC, state, and local partners.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required, preferably in public health or a health-related field.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders and building strategic partnerships.
  • Strong understanding of research and epidemiologic study design and implementation.
  • Experience with data analysis and synthesizing literature.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience working in a virtual environment with remote partners and teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Zoom.
  • Preferred: prior experience in drug overdose epidemiology, wastewater, or laboratory activities.
  • Preferred: experience working directly with local and state health departments.
  • Preferred: experience developing technical guidance for health departments.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $95,000 to $105,000.
  • Remote work option, with onsite support available in Atlanta, GA.
  • Position end date of 09/29/26.
