Description

  • Perform and direct complex HVAC mechanical design, including ductwork, piping, and equipment selection for large-scale buildings.
  • Work independently across mechanical disciplines and assist with plumbing and fire protection design as needed.
  • Oversee, guide, mentor, and provide technical leadership to designers and engineering team members.
  • Direct less experienced staff and support annual performance review development and presentation.
  • Serve in QA/QC activities and act as an independent reviewer when needed.
  • Prepare Revit/BIM construction drawings and models for HVAC systems from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Specify mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, and air handling units.
  • Review shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
  • Participate in client and project team meetings, including owner/architect/construction administration meetings, with attention to budget.
  • Lead or participate in value engineering sessions and recommend process improvements to improve quality and coordination.
  • Conduct staff development activities including work planning, budget development, and scheduling with the Project Manager.
  • Respond to RFIs and review change orders during construction document preparation.
  • Visit job sites to verify existing conditions, observe construction progress, and attend construction meetings.
  • Represent the company in project, business development, marketing, and committee activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering required; ABET-accredited degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience required.
  • Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States preferred.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Life Safety Codes.
  • Ability to work independently in all mechanical disciplines with no oversight or guidance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a critical thinker with strong analytical ability.
  • Ability to engage effectively with clients and handle multiple projects.
  • Experience with engineering design software such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus required.
  • Ability to perform work with a high degree of latitude and manage ambiguity.
  • Must provide a resume and portfolio when applying.
