Description

  • Conduct on-site facility condition assessments of existing buildings as part of a multidisciplinary team, focusing on mechanical and plumbing systems.
  • Identify and document deficiencies in HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, cooling towers, chillers, boilers, and fire protection systems.
  • Provide written narratives describing system conditions, critical issues, and recommendations for remediation.
  • Determine condition, remaining useful life, required costs, and remedial measures for assessed systems.
  • Develop technical recommendations and budgetary cost estimates to support future project planning.
  • Interview building operations and maintenance staff to gather building history, prior work orders, and operational information.
  • Work with clients and on-site personnel while maintaining a high daily walk rate across large facility footprints.
  • Prepare project progress documentation for project manager review.
  • Lead and support junior Architectural Assessors and help ensure work quality on projects.
  • Review peer work and participate in post-project reviews.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience.
  • Experience evaluating mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and other building equipment.
  • Direct experience conducting facility condition assessments for mechanical and plumbing equipment strongly preferred.
  • Experience assessing healthcare and educational institutions strongly preferred.
  • Prior cost estimating experience is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD is required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
  • Experience with Adobe Suite, Bluebeam, tablets, and mobile device tools is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% for out-of-town assignments.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding field work, including walking large areas daily, climbing fixed and extension ladders, and walking on roof surfaces up to a 3/12 slope.
  • Remote work is available within the U.S., with a preference for candidates located in or near Buffalo, NY; Houston, TX; Denver, CO; or Chicago, IL.
