Description

  • Support the development of a knowledge and tools repository for freight corridor electrification deployments by researching, organizing, refining, and compiling resources.
  • Help develop a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) model to assess how policy measures affect vehicle economics for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Incorporate vehicle, energy, infrastructure, operational, and financing parameters into analytical models.
  • Translate analytical results into clear visualizations, summaries, and user-friendly outputs for policymakers and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Drive to Zero team and other CALSTART teams to prepare tools and resources for global adaptation and replication.
  • Support additional research and analysis related to zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, infrastructure, and enabling policy as needed.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in, or recent completion of, a Master's degree in engineering, energy, transportation, environmental science, economics, data science, public policy, or a related field.
  • Experience developing quantitative models, particularly TCO, techno-economic, financial, or policy-impact models.
  • Familiarity with web-based tools, databases, dashboards, or digital knowledge platforms.
  • Knowledge of zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, transportation electrification, charging infrastructure, or energy systems.
  • Familiarity with clean transportation policies and policy mechanisms such as incentives, taxation, and regulation.
  • Experience translating analytical work into intuitive and user-friendly tools or visualizations.
  • Interest in working in an international environment and supporting governments and other stakeholders in the transition to zero-emission transportation.
  • Weekly minimum availability of 15-20 hours.
