Description

  • Set the strategic UX direction for mobile products across iOS and Android, connecting design choices to business outcomes and long-term product strategy.
  • Build the design system from the ground up, including frameworks, patterns, components, and guidelines.
  • Partner with product and engineering leadership to shape roadmap and product strategy.
  • Identify systemic design opportunities and propose scalable solutions that improve engagement, retention, and business metrics.
  • Create clarity and alignment when product direction is ambiguous by framing problems and defining success criteria.
  • Lead complex cross-functional initiatives such as gamification, personalization systems, and rewards architecture.
  • Establish design standards, processes, and best practices that scale with the team, including design reviews, research methods, and documentation.
  • Use analytics, research, and experimentation to inform strategic decisions and measure the impact of design initiatives.
  • Mentor senior designers and help grow their strategic, systems, and leadership capabilities.
  • Represent design in cross-functional strategic discussions and collaborate with marketing and growth teams across the customer journey.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of product design experience with progression from individual contributor work to strategic design leadership.
  • A portfolio demonstrating staff-level impact, including design systems, strategic initiatives, and organizational influence.
  • Deep mobile-first expertise with experience setting design direction for consumer mobile products on iOS and Android.
  • Experience building design systems in startup or high-growth environments.
  • Strategic thinking and business acumen with understanding of how design affects engagement, retention, monetization, and other key metrics.
  • Proven ability to partner with product and engineering leadership and influence roadmap decisions through design thinking.
  • Strong systems thinking and the ability to create scalable frameworks rather than one-off solutions.
  • Comfort working independently in ambiguous, fast-paced startup environments.
  • Experience in consumer loyalty, rewards, gamification, or similar engagement-driven products.
  • Track record of developing other designers and raising team-wide design capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and influence skills, with the ability to drive alignment across teams without positional authority.
  • Data-driven decision-making experience using analytics, research, and experimentation to measure impact.
  • Thought leadership contributions such as writing, speaking, or other visible design community work.
  • Preferred: experience scaling design teams and establishing design culture in startup environments.
  • Preferred: deep expertise in loyalty program design, behavioral psychology, or habit formation.
  • Preferred: background in fintech, payments, or card-linked offer platforms.
  • Preferred: experience with advanced personalization systems or AI-driven user experiences.
  • Preferred: track record of successful product launches or major redesigns with measurable business impact.
  • Preferred: experience working with technical constraints in mobile platforms and using them as design opportunities.
  • Fully remote role.
