Description

  • Administer and support SQL Server databases across on-premises and Azure IaaS environments, including installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades.
  • Manage Azure SQL PaaS services, including Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance, with responsibility for availability, security, and performance.
  • Design, implement, and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, and Azure SQL Failover Groups.
  • Perform database upgrades and migrations, including SQL Server version upgrades, Azure SQL migrations, and cross-platform data migrations as needed.
  • Monitor database performance and proactively identify and resolve issues related to CPU, memory, and I/O bottlenecks.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices, including role-based access control and encryption such as TDE.
  • Execute and validate backup, restore, point-in-time recovery, and disaster recovery drills across platforms.
  • Collaborate with developers, architects, infrastructure teams, cloud engineers, data engineers, security teams, and business stakeholders on database design and integration.
  • Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting languages such as PowerShell, T-SQL, and Python.
  • Participate in incident, problem, change, and release management processes while maintaining SLA adherence and documentation.
  • Administer Snowflake environments, including user management, performance optimization, data loading, and cost monitoring.
  • Support Azure Cosmos DB, including account configuration, throughput management, monitoring, and availability.

Requirements

  • 7–10+ years of experience as a Database Administrator.
  • Strong experience with SQL Server 2017–2022+.
  • Experience with Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
  • Expertise in performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions such as Always On, clustering, log shipping, and replication.
  • Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies and disaster recovery planning.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Strong understanding of database security and encryption techniques.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation.
  • Working knowledge of Snowflake architecture, administration, and cost management.
  • Experience managing or supporting Azure Cosmos DB, preferably with the Core SQL API.
  • Experience operating in ITIL-aligned environments for incident, change, and problem management.
  • Exposure to DevOps and CI/CD practices for database deployments is a plus.
