Description

  • Build and launch new features from conception through completion across the full technology stack.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Data colleagues in small cross-functional teams.
  • Guide technical and business decisions to ensure teams build the right solutions effectively.
  • Own feature implementations end-to-end, including integrations with third-party tools and data systems.
  • Exercise technical leadership and autonomy while balancing delivery speed, quality, and maintainability.
  • Improve developer experience for Brilliant engineers and user experience for learners.
  • Promote high standards of candor, accountability, and engineering excellence within the team.
  • Evaluate work through its impact on learners and business outcomes.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in web-focused software engineering.
  • Deep senior-level experience; early- and mid-career software generalists are not being considered.
  • Ability to work effectively across the full stack and own features end-to-end.
  • Experience building robust, maintainable, AI-interoperable software systems.
  • History of transformative impact, such as founding a company, scaling as an early employee, or leading engineering teams.
  • Ability to make sound technical and product decisions using the appropriate tools, including unfamiliar or established technologies.
  • Commitment to simple, understandable solutions and human-readable code.
  • Strong product judgment and ability to articulate what makes product experiences delightful.
  • Active use of AI tools and workflows to achieve meaningful productivity gains.
  • Availability during Brilliant’s core collaboration hours of 9:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Pacific.
