Description

  • Monitor and optimize SQL queries to identify and address performance bottlenecks and improve execution times.
  • Verify and validate database configurations for performance, reliability, and security; implement configuration adjustments and best practices.
  • Plan and execute database migrations and upgrades in coordination with development and operations teams, minimizing downtime and data loss.
  • Establish, maintain, and regularly test backup and recovery procedures and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Monitor database performance metrics and implement tuning strategies to optimize resource utilization and overall database performance.
  • Assist developers in building optimal, high-performing database queries, transactions, and stored procedures.
  • Create, upgrade, and maintain system documentation, runbooks, and technical procedures for all database environments.
  • Collaborate closely with development and operations teams to support ongoing projects and ensure smooth database operations and incident response.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator with expertise in SQL query optimization, configuration management, and database migrations.
  • Strong working knowledge of how databases optimize and execute queries, including transactions and stored procedures.
  • Strong working background with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Proficiency with other database technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
  • Solid understanding of database architecture, including indexing, storage, and caching mechanisms.
  • Experience with database migration tools and techniques (dump/restore, replication, schema migration scripts).
  • Familiarity with version control systems and automated deployment pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Preferred: database administration certification (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator).
  • Preferred: experience with cloud-based database platforms (e.g., Amazon RDS, Azure SQL Database) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
