Description

  • Work with the Accounting Unit to understand accounting processes and general ledger postings.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of the organization’s activities, projects, and financial dynamics.
  • Build effective working relationships across the organization to support understanding of financial performance.
  • Formulate a credible organization-wide budget and track performance against it.
  • Report financial performance against budget to the Director-General or representatives on a regular and timely basis.
  • Reconcile bank accounts at least monthly, verify deposits, and handle bank inquiries.
  • Explain budget variances and provide reforecasts, trend analysis, and scenario analysis to business heads as needed.
  • Identify strategic opportunities to grow revenue and control costs, and assist with implementation and monitoring.
  • Work closely with Financial Analysts and Auditors to deliver Financial Management Unit outputs and targets.
  • Ensure regulatory returns such as corporation tax and VAT are submitted accurately and on time.

Requirements

  • EU-based candidate eligible to work as a home-based volunteer.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or an international professional accounting qualification required.
  • Professional accounting qualification preferred.
  • Strong financial management expertise is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is essential.
  • Excellent written English and strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate a team.
  • Proven ability to multitask, prioritize work, and solve problems effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
  • Experience in financial analysis, planning, and budgeting, ideally in a not-for-profit environment.
  • Experience building constructive stakeholder relationships and working independently or collaboratively on projects.
  • Previous experience within an international NGO is desirable but not required.
  • Highly proficient with Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Some knowledge of climate change, climate finance, and blockchain technology is preferred.
