Description

  • Lead and manage 3–5 Technical Leads and oversee ~20 engineers across four cross-functional squads responsible for customer-facing experiences.
  • Act as a hands-on technical leader by participating in code reviews, architecture discussions, sprint planning/retros, and debugging production issues alongside the team.
  • Drive AI tool adoption and demonstrate daily use of Claude Code (and similar tools) to accelerate coding, code review, and debugging workflows.
  • Ensure delivery cadence and commitment targets (85%+ sprint commitment across squads) and move squads to weekly releases.
  • Improve product reliability by reducing P1/P2 production incidents by 50% for product code.
  • Develop engineering leaders by creating documented growth plans for all Tech Leads and preparing 2+ for the next level.
  • Maintain team health and accountability by targeting an eNPS of 40+ and owning delivery metrics, not just team wellbeing.
  • Recruit and backfill roles as needed, including hiring a Partner Enablement Tech Lead and 3–5 additional engineers.

Requirements

  • Experience managing Tech Leads or engineering managers and developing leaders (not just ICs).
  • Hands-on orientation: regularly review code, evaluate architecture, and participate in technical tradeoff discussions.
  • Personal daily use of AI coding tools (Claude, Cursor, Copilot) with demonstrable productivity gains and real examples.
  • Proven track record of shipping on time without sacrificing quality and knowing when to cut scope or hold the line.
  • Full-stack fluency with the ability to evaluate frontend and backend decisions and tradeoffs.
  • Experience running cross-functional squads with Product and Design and balancing autonomy with alignment.
  • Comfort being accountable for delivery metrics and staying close to technical details (attending ceremonies, reviewing PRs).
  • Preferred: recent GitHub activity, recent code reviews, or technical docs from the last 6 months to show current technical involvement.
  • Preferred: experience at growth-stage companies ($50M–$500M) or in e-commerce, legal tech, fintech, or other compliance-heavy industries.
  • Preferred: familiarity with CMS platforms (Statamic, Contentful), HubSpot, or Zendesk.
