Description

  • Design and prototype generative AI experiences that accelerate autonomy development.
  • Lead the user experience design for Hivemind Generative AI.
  • Work with the Office of the CTO to define the vision for Hivemind products and documentation.
  • Collaborate with technical leads on Hivemind Commander and Hivemind Design to improve product user experiences.
  • Conduct user research to understand user personas and their needs.
  • Research competing products and synthesize findings for engineering and product leadership.
  • Contribute tactically and strategically to foundational Hivemind products and low-TRL solutions.
  • Develop reference implementations and work alongside product teams in ambiguous situations.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience developing large, production-quality software systems.
  • Strong software development and coding principles with high productivity in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, C++, Go, Python, or Rust.
  • Strong knowledge of modern software engineering best practices, including Git, code management tools, documentation, unit testing, and bug tracking.
  • 5+ years of experience with React, Node, TypeScript, or JavaScript development.
  • 5+ years of experience developing web applications, including front-end or full-stack work.
  • Deep understanding of full-stack web development, including DOM, browser APIs, WebSockets, HTTP streaming, Server-Sent Events, state management, SPA routing, and progressive rendering techniques.
  • Experience with multi-modal input handling, including text, files, images, and audio, and client-side LLM context management.
  • Experience with Linux, Docker, and CI/CD environments.
  • Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform such as Azure, GCP, or AWS.
  • Ability to work effectively in ambiguous conditions and drive technical efforts.
  • Ability to travel to a Shield AI location 1-3 times per quarter.
  • Preferred: experience with geospatial data and WebGL.
  • Preferred: experience with Playwright UI testing.
  • Preferred: experience with Electron or a similar framework.
  • Preferred: experience building debugging or inspection UIs for generative AI systems.
  • Preferred: experience with user experience design for video games.
  • Preferred: experience designing low-code or no-code systems.
  • Preferred: comfort reading C++, Python, and/or TypeScript.
