Description

  • Build and maintain trust-based relationships with grassroots partners, community members, and local stakeholders across the Texas Gulf Coast.
  • Conduct regular partner outreach and one-on-one check-ins to stay aligned on campaign priorities and local needs.
  • Support partners in identifying organizing opportunities tied to projects, permitting processes, and key decision-making moments.
  • Identify and help elevate community leaders and spokespeople connected to regional efforts.
  • Support implementation of campaign strategies across priority regions on the Texas Coast.
  • Translate campaign goals into organizing activities, including outreach, events, trainings, and actions.
  • Coordinate with internal teams across communications, research, legal, and grants to align field efforts with broader campaign strategy.
  • Develop organizing tools and materials such as talking points and action alerts.
  • Increase community participation in public comment opportunities, hearings, and other civic engagement processes.
  • Track organizing activities, partner engagement, and campaign milestones using internal tools and systems.
  • Support weekly and quarterly reporting with accurate and timely data.

Requirements

  • 1–4 years of experience in community organizing, grassroots advocacy, or related nonprofit work.
  • Experience supporting community-led campaigns or coalitions and building relationships across diverse communities.
  • Demonstrated interest in environmental justice, climate, or industrial/pollution-related issues.
  • Strong communication skills, including clearly conveying ideas and actively listening.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within Texas, including approximately 25–50% travel and occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Must be located in Texas, with a strong preference for candidates based in the Houston area.
  • Preferred experience working with frontline communities impacted by environmental or public health issues.
  • Preferred experience or exposure to political (c4) organizing, advocacy campaigns, or civic engagement work.
  • Preferred connection to Texas communities and/or experience organizing in Texas.
  • Preferred Spanish language proficiency, professional or conversational, especially in community engagement settings.
  • A bachelor’s degree is welcome but not required; equivalent experience will be considered.
