Description

  • Manage railroad project services and coordinate with local and state government agency sponsors.
  • Review project requests affecting railroad property or right of way.
  • Coordinate with owning railroad managers, consultants, designers, and field personnel.
  • Monitor project budgets, scopes, schedules, updates, databases, and records.
  • Coordinate inspections, construction monitoring, project reporting, and compliance documentation.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, invoices, contract compliance materials, and project initiation forms.
  • Schedule and lead meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain client relationships and coordinate work with sub-consultants.
  • Assist with contract negotiations and conflict resolution.
  • Travel to railroad sites as needed, typically approximately 10% of the role.

Requirements

  • An engineering degree is required; a BS in Civil Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience leading projects across multiple states from preliminary engineering through construction.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of railroad and highway infrastructure projects is preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT project management processes, project phasing, and regulatory requirements is preferred.
  • Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, PDF tools, and other productivity software.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with local and state agency project sponsors.
  • Ability to take ownership of assigned projects and support contract and compliance activities.
  • Midwestern location is strongly preferred; candidates near a Benesch office may work remotely, in-office, or in a hybrid arrangement.
