Description

  • Set the technical direction and architecture for Compass and LLM-powered product features.
  • Design multi-agent systems that balance rapid experimentation with scalable, reliable long-term architecture.
  • Lead the evolution of MCP servers, A2A integrations, and APIs connecting agents to the Basis media-buying toolkit.
  • Own agent orchestration, evaluation, observability, production reliability, and end-to-end production support.
  • Lead cross-functional technical planning, architecture discussions, RFCs, and stakeholder communication.
  • Drive large-scale, multi-team technical initiatives from ideation through production.
  • Establish the team’s technical quality standards through design reviews, code reviews, and engineering processes.
  • Mentor and onboard engineers, and promote effective collaboration across the team.
  • Develop best practices and infrastructure for AI-assisted and agentic development across Basis Engineering.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including recent delivery of production LLM-powered applications or agent systems.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, including ownership of a team’s or major system’s technical direction and influence on broader architecture.
  • Expert-level Python proficiency and experience architecting production APIs and backend services.
  • Experience integrating protocols such as MCP and A2A.
  • Deep experience building and operating agentic systems using tools such as Strands, LangChain, or Claude Agent SDK.
  • Experience with asynchronous and event-driven systems, prompt engineering, structured outputs, and agent-reliability techniques.
  • Experience designing evaluation strategies and using observability tools such as Langfuse or LangSmith.
  • Fluency with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex, with accountability for generated output.
  • Ability to mentor engineers and communicate complex systems to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience in ad tech, media planning, programmatic advertising, AWS Bedrock, MCP tool sets, agent authentication, RAG, or vector databases (preferred).
