Description

  • Build infrastructure and develop new features for the WordPress platform.
  • Improve existing code and refactor legacy code while maintaining backwards compatibility.
  • Triaging bugs and small enhancements from GitHub.
  • Scope, write, and test new product features and add-ons.
  • Provide peer feedback and review other developers’ GitHub pull requests.
  • Communicate with the team and support peers through chat, audio, and video.
  • Work across both front-end and back-end tasks, including features that span both areas.
  • Own tasks and features from scoping through development and testing.

Requirements

  • Professional experience with WordPress plugin development, architecture, and standards.
  • Advanced proficiency with PHP and MySQL, including modern PHP practices such as OOP, autoloading, namespacing, traits, and interfaces.
  • Strong familiarity with JavaScript, including vanilla JS, jQuery, and ES6.
  • Ability to use and extend build tools such as gulp and webpack.
  • Familiarity with package managers such as Composer and NPM.
  • Experience working with third-party APIs such as Stripe, Drip, and Zapier.
  • Competent with version control using git and GitHub.
  • Ability to iterate and ship ideas quickly.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills and the ability to keep complex ideas simple.
  • Previous freelance or remote work experience.
  • A personal computer with internet access.
  • Availability to participate in audio/video meetings between 9 am and 5 pm EST.
  • Advanced proficiency with JavaScript frameworks such as VueJS or React is a plus.
  • Experience with e-commerce platforms or related APIs such as Easy Digital Downloads, WooCommerce, Stripe, or PayPal is a plus.
  • Experience with DevOps or infrastructure management is a plus.
