Description

  • Manage, mentor, and grow an 8-10 engineer software team through 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning.
  • Design complex systems from the ground up in partnership with software, hardware, and infrastructure teams.
  • Lead the architecture, design, and build of frontends and scalable cloud backend services for real-time and offline workflows.
  • Drive execution and delivery of robust, well-engineered solutions with high standards for quality and reliability.
  • Partner with Product Managers, Designers, Autonomy, and Operations stakeholders to define and execute the technical vision and roadmap.
  • Own solutions for autonomous vehicle fleet management and partner API integrations with major trucking companies.
  • Drive incremental improvements to existing products and greenfield development of new products.
  • Champion the team’s vision to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Foster a culture of engineering excellence, collaboration, and end-to-end ownership.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of industry experience in software development.
  • 5+ years of direct experience as an Engineering Manager leading a team of 5+ engineers.
  • Proven track record of delivering large-scale backend systems.
  • Deep expertise in cloud backend development, including scalable web services, distributed systems, and modern API design.
  • Experience with external customer-facing software and production rollout with real customers.
  • Experience managing and mentoring engineers, including hiring, performance management, and career development.
  • Experience working with Product Management and UI/UX Design teams to deliver features at scale.
  • Experience defining technical roadmaps and driving long-term strategic projects across multiple engineering teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders and write effective technical specs.
  • Preferred experience in transportation, logistics, or other time-sensitive operations.
  • Preferred experience with safety- and mission-critical applications.
  • Preferred experience with fleet management solutions for robots, vehicles, or aerial drones.
  • Preferred experience in operations research or optimization algorithms.
  • Preference for action and the ability to balance speed, quality, and sustainable engineering practices.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $212,000 to $340,000 per year.
  • Eligible for an annual bonus.
  • Eligible for equity compensation.
  • Hybrid work environment with at least 3 days per week in the office.
