Description

  • Design, route, and document complex wire harness assemblies using enterprise E-CAD software.
  • Create detailed 2D/3D drawings, schematics, and full Bills of Materials (BoMs).
  • Develop routing solutions for high-DOF joints and dynamic electromechanical environments.
  • Select wire types, jackets, and shielding materials for high-cycle fatigue and durability.
  • Collaborate with Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Drive Design for Manufacturability and Assembly improvements to reduce complexity, part count, and assembly time.
  • Support advanced harness integration methods such as overmolding and custom backshells.
  • Perform root cause analysis and hands-on validation testing, including continuity, Hi-Pot, and pull-force tests.
  • Participate in DFMEAs and help identify and mitigate failure modes.
  • Maintain E-CAD component libraries, drawing standards, and documentation best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and assembly technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Robotics.
  • 4+ years of experience designing wire harnesses for complex electromechanical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of high-speed data and high-power distribution in space-constrained harnesses.
  • Proven experience designing high-flex cabling for dynamic applications such as robotics, aerospace gimbals, or automotive doors.
  • Strong proficiency with modern E-CAD software such as Zuken E3.series, Siemens Capital, SolidWorks Electrical, Rapid Harness, or Altium.
  • Solid understanding of wire sizing, voltage drop, EMI/EMC shielding, signal integrity, and thermal derating.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Direct experience with common industry standards for harness manufacturing and quality control.
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds and communicate effectively through vision, hearing, and speech.
