Description

  • Build production-grade storefronts in React and modern headless commerce frameworks such as Shopify Hydrogen.
  • Develop and customize classic Shopify solutions, including Liquid themes, apps, Checkout Extensions, and store configuration.
  • Serve as AOA's Shopify technical lead by setting the standard for Shopify work and reviewing and overseeing team output.
  • Lead Shopify migrations and establish CI/CD and deployment pipelines for themes and apps.
  • Translate product-level objectives into clear engineering tasks and own the technical approach for assigned work.
  • Convert Figma designs into reusable storefront components and design-system primitives.
  • Integrate storefronts with commerce and content APIs, including handling variants, inventory, pricing, loading states, errors, and partial data.
  • Plan and sequence work across multiple client projects while providing recommendations and proactively surfacing risks.
  • Write tested, maintainable TypeScript that follows each client codebase's conventions.
  • Conduct code reviews, self-review your work before QA, and maintain quality standards across revenue-bearing flows.

Requirements

  • 5+ years building production frontend applications with deep, current React and TypeScript expertise.
  • 4+ years building and owning Shopify experiences across classic and headless builds.
  • Experience working in an agency environment and as an independent contractor, with the ability to manage multiple clients or projects in parallel.
  • Strong experience on enterprise-grade accounts, products, or projects.
  • Strong experience with Liquid theme development (Online Store 2.0), Shopify apps, Checkout Extensions, store configuration, and migrations.
  • Experience as the senior technical authority on Shopify, including setting standards, reviewing others' work, and owning CI/CD and version control for themes or apps.
  • A track record of owning storefront features end-to-end from ambiguous requirements to production.
  • Strong frontend fundamentals, including semantic HTML, modern CSS, responsive design, accessibility, and browser behavior.
  • Experience translating Figma designs into accurate, responsive, accessible interfaces.
  • Experience integrating REST or GraphQL APIs, including the Shopify Storefront API or similar, and managing client and server state such as cart.
  • A strong quality discipline with typed, tested code and self-review before QA.
  • Ability to estimate work, commit within a delivery cycle, and reliably deliver.
  • Excellent professional English, spoken and written, with reliable overlap during standard US Central Time business hours.
  • Fluent, practical use of AI coding tools as part of an engineering workflow.
  • Based in Latin America and able to work as an independent contractor.
  • Experience with other headless commerce stacks such as commercetools or BigCommerce, or with SaaS and B2B product frontends in Next.js.
  • Experience building or maintaining a design system or component library used across multiple storefronts or products.
  • Familiarity with frontend testing and CI tooling such as Playwright, Vitest or Jest, and Testing Library.
  • Experience with conversion optimization, A/B testing, or analytics instrumentation on commerce sites.
  • Experience working in a points-based or sprint-based delivery model.
  • A portfolio, GitHub, or code samples you can share.
