Description

  • Support and review system block diagrams, interface control documents, and schematics for compliance, redundancy, and accuracy against requirements and concepts of operations.
  • Lead Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) efforts with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Perform predictive reliability analysis to estimate loss of control, loss of asset, MTTF, and MTBF using company requirements, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Develop and execute qualification and validation test plans, including environmental, life/limit, and accelerated testing, and partner with Test Engineering on fixture and instrumentation.
  • Work with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering to refine assembly, integration, inspection, and testing processes to improve build reliability and reduce time-to-deploy.
  • Develop maintainability prediction models and support preventative maintenance and sparing plans.
  • Perform Weibull analysis on qualification, production, and field data to predict failures and identify trends.
  • Lead failure investigations from design validation, production testing, and field returns, and drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventative actions to closure.
  • Support development milestone reviews by defining entry and exit criteria and guiding transitions from development to high-rate production.
  • Develop and implement standardized reliability processes, tools, and infrastructure to improve design, manufacturing, and deployment operations.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience as a Reliability Engineer, Design/Development Engineer, or Test Engineer.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
  • Experience with safety-critical hardware and software systems in the defense or aerospace industry.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-HDBK-217, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-516C, and MIL-STD-1629.
  • Experience building a reliability engineering framework for a product or program, including production testing, field testing, data acquisition, and data analysis.
  • Expertise in reliability analysis methods, including FMEA/FMECA, predictive modeling, Weibull analysis, and Fault Tree Analysis.
  • Experience generating qualification testing requirements and executing tests to characterize product behavior and performance.
  • Failure investigation and analysis experience with a proven record of solving problems and preventing recurrence.
  • Experience with design reviews such as PDR, CDR, and MRR, and confidence presenting to leadership at all levels.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance.
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline is preferred.
  • Experience with MIL-HDBK-217Plus, MIL-HDBK-472, and MIL-STD-1916 is preferred.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Readiness Level assessments, Manufacturing Review Board, Quality Inspection, Tooling, or Calibration is preferred.
  • Experience with risk management, change control/change management reviews, and software/firmware HITL/SITL is preferred.
  • Experience with HALT, HASS, environmental testing, and/or mechanical testing is preferred.
  • Technical writing experience developing requirements, standards, specifications, user guides, and policies is preferred.
