Description

  • Own the electrical architecture for imaging payloads, including system partitioning and power, sensor, data, and interface electronics tradeoffs.
  • Lead the design, layout, bring-up, and qualification of PCBAs for EO/IR sensor systems.
  • Translate sensor and system performance models into electrical requirements and challenge non-critical requirements.
  • Drive rapid prototype, bench characterization, iteration, and flight-ready hardware development cycles.
  • Design hardware for the space environment and own TVAC, vibration, and EMI/EMC analysis and testing.
  • Build design-for-manufacturability and design-for-assembly into schematics and hardware plans from the start.
  • Lead board bring-up, lab integration, and troubleshooting during environmental and system testing.
  • Partner with firmware, optics, mechanical, systems, and program teams to resolve integration issues quickly.
  • Mentor other electrical engineers and serve as a technical anchor for design reviews and decisions.
  • Document architectures, analyses, designs, and test results to support flight readiness and program reviews.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of electrical engineering experience spanning system architecture, electronics design, and hands-on test.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Proven ownership of electronics architecture for a complex electromechanical or sensor system.
  • Strong experience with analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power electronics design.
  • Deep schematic capture and PCB layout proficiency.
  • Hands-on experience taking hardware through bring-up, integration, and qualification.
  • Experience delivering hardware on aggressive timelines and in rapid iterative design cycles.
  • Strong engineering judgment and problem-solving ability under schedule pressure.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Preferred: Direct experience designing electronics for space, especially New Space or commercial-cadence programs.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with radiation effects (TID/SEE), rad-hard and rad-tolerant part selection, COTS-for-space approaches, TVAC, vibration, and EMI/EMC.
  • Preferred: Experience with EO/IR, RF, optical, or other sensor and communication systems.
  • Preferred: Experience designing for manufacturability and assembly, including transition to low-rate production.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with MATLAB, Python, or C++.
  • Preferred: Understanding of system integration workflows in aerospace or defense environments.
  • Preferred: Experience mentoring engineers and leading design reviews.
