Description

  • Design, implement, and validate advanced GPS-denied navigation algorithms for vision-based navigation, map matching, and sensor fusion.
  • Develop algorithms from concept through high-fidelity simulation, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and rapid flight validation on physical platforms.
  • Collaborate with computer vision, flight software, and simulation teams to define requirements and integrate navigation solutions.
  • Analyze flight test data from multiple platforms and environments to identify performance gaps, refine algorithms, and debug incidents.
  • Contribute to collaborative navigation and precise terminal guidance capabilities for operational scenarios.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in algorithm design, validation, and continuous integration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in GNC, localization, or advanced state estimation roles.
  • Deep expertise in state estimation and sensor fusion, including EKF, ES-EKF, UKF, or invariant filters.
  • Proficiency in C++ and/or Python for algorithm development and real-time embedded systems implementation.
  • Extensive experience with vision-based navigation techniques such as VIO, VSLAM, feature tracking, or optical flow, or with robust map matching and geo-registration algorithms.
  • Proven ability to develop, test, and debug algorithms in real-time embedded environments on physical hardware.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation of dynamic systems and sensor phenomenology.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant technical field, preferred.
  • Experience with TERCOM or other non-GPS absolute localization methods using sensors such as LRF, radar altimeters, or star trackers, preferred.
  • Familiarity with navigation sensor modalities such as IMU, baro, LRF, radar altimeters, and EO/IR, preferred.
  • Experience with distributed or collaborative navigation systems, preferred.
  • Track record of bringing complex algorithms from theory to deployed products on physical hardware, preferred.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD, Git, and automated testing frameworks, preferred.
