Description

  • Plan and execute system-level hardware and software test and evaluation activities, including ground and flight testing.
  • Work with program management and engineering teams to define requirements and review test results, data, and observations.
  • Perform safety and risk analysis for testing events and develop mitigations as needed.
  • Collect test data, conduct initial analysis, and document system performance and issues.
  • Support test events at private and government-owned test ranges.
  • Create evaluation test plans, test cards, and reports focused on functionality, suitability, and integration.
  • Run pre-flight and post-flight briefings and manage test events with pilots, SMEs, operations, and other support teams.
  • Collaborate daily with hardware and software engineering teams to characterize issues and report test status.
  • Manage configuration control of test assets, including hardware, payloads, software/firmware, and fleet maintenance planning.
  • Collect flight test metrics such as sortie information and delays.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Ability to quickly understand and apply new concepts, and organize and coordinate work phases.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Methodical, thorough, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on complex engineering tasks.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and concepts.
  • Current or ability to obtain FAA Part 107 Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems certification.
  • Current or ability to obtain FAA Part 61 certification for pilots, flight instructors, and ground instructors (ground test completion is the only requirement).
  • Working knowledge of National Airspace and UAS operating guidelines and regulations.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Preferred: 5+ years of flight test engineering or system-level testing experience.
  • Preferred: Strong software and documentation experience, including familiarity with Linux-based operating systems, networking, SSH, and command line.
  • Preferred: Knowledge and experience with Group 2/3 fixed-wing systems.
  • Preferred: Experience working on DoD programs.
