Description

  • Own the health and uptime of deployed imaging systems and drive issue resolution across code, firmware, networking, and hardware.
  • Develop, extend, and maintain production software services running on edge-compute devices in austere environments.
  • Triaged and diagnose issues in fielded systems, including remote troubleshooting with field operators and non-technical users.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert for integrations with external teams, products, and customers, both remotely and on-site.
  • Build broad system understanding across hardware, firmware, networking, and software to improve resilience and graceful degradation.
  • Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and platform engineers to plan, build, and test complex functionality.
  • Support field operations and customer integrations through travel, field testing, and on-site troubleshooting.
  • Communicate technical issues clearly under pressure and represent the team externally in cross-functional settings.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software development experience with meaningful production ownership after launch.
  • Strong Python and C++ skills, with the ability to work effectively in either language.
  • 5+ years of experience working in Linux-based environments, including bare-metal hardware.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve issues across system boundaries such as networking, services, and hardware interactions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical audiences.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 15% of the time for field testing and customer integrations.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance.
  • Experience with gRPC or similar RPC frameworks is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Linux system service management and observability practices is preferred.
  • React/JSX experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Nix or NixOS is preferred.
  • Experience supporting fielded or deployed systems is preferred.
