Description

  • Inspect materials, equipment, processes, and products using NDT methods such as UT and/or RT to ensure compliance with NAVSEA 271 and customer specifications.
  • Review engineering drawings to identify and measure key hardware characteristics.
  • Collaborate with receiving, operations, and program engineering teams to prioritize work scope.
  • Develop novel inspection techniques for new materials, complex geometries, and advanced manufacturing processes.
  • Review standards, specifications, and processes, and help qualify NDT equipment for new and expanding manufacturing facilities.
  • Create and perform validations for tools and equipment.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot product or production issues.
  • Support internal and external audits of the NDT program.

Requirements

  • Verifiable work experience meeting NAVSEA T9074-AS-GIB-010/271 training and work-time requirements for Level II Examiner certification.
  • Current NDT Level II certification from a recognized body such as ASNT in at least one method: Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and/or Radiographic Testing (RT).
  • Experience performing NDT on critical welded structures, pressure vessels, castings, or forgings for naval or other critical defense applications.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) due to contractual requirements.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Active Secret or Top-Secret security clearance is preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline such as Materials Science, Welding Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of fabrication and inspection codes such as NAVSEA S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248, ASME B&PV Section V, and AWS D1.2 is preferred.
  • Experience establishing a NAVSEA 271-compliant NDT program from the ground up in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience developing and qualifying NDT procedures for advanced materials such as carbon fiber composites and titanium alloys is preferred.
  • Familiarity with additional military standards such as MIL-STD-2132 is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of GD&T is preferred.
