Description

  • Plan, execute, and report on flight test activities for software and hardware systems.
  • Support test events at test sites, including pre-test planning and on-site execution.
  • Manage configuration of test-owned assets, including hardware, payloads, software, firmware, and fleet maintenance tracking.
  • Develop evaluation test plans and reports covering system functionality, suitability, safety risks, mitigations, and logistics.
  • Create and execute test cards, conduct pre- and post-flight briefings, and manage test events with pilots, engineers, and operations teams.
  • Operate Altius during system evaluation testing as part of test execution.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to document findings, characterize issues, and report test status.
  • Interface daily with hardware and software engineering teams.
  • Collect and track flight test metrics such as sortie information and delays.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Ability to learn new concepts quickly, apply them accurately, and coordinate work phases to solve complex problems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Methodical, thorough, and detail-oriented work style.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on complex engineering tasks.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and concepts.
  • Current or able to acquire FAA Part 107 Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems certification.
  • Current or able to acquire FAA Part 61 certification with ground test complete as the only requirement.
  • Previous experience or working knowledge of National Airspace and UAS operating guidelines and regulations.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Ability to work extended hours as required.
  • Ability to travel as required for planning and testing.
  • Strong software and documentation experience, with familiarity in Linux-based operating systems, networking, SSH, and command line tools (preferred).
  • 1-3 years of flight test engineering or system-level testing experience (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Group 2/3 fixed-wing systems (preferred).
  • Experience working on DOD programs (preferred).
