Description

  • Lead the architecture, technical direction, and technical skill development for the Core Experience engineering team.
  • Work with the Engineering Manager, Product Manager, and engineers to plan, build, release, and maintain high-quality software.
  • Create and maintain shared services and libraries used across the engineering organization.
  • Review code and actively participate in product development across teams.
  • Design simple solutions to complex software problems and implement high-quality, well-tested code.
  • Participate in on-call rotation, troubleshoot production issues, and reduce the incidence of incidents.
  • Refactor existing systems safely and drive down technical complexity and technical debt.
  • Lead large, strategic, ambiguous, and complex projects by breaking them into achievable pieces.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Core Experience and other teams to share knowledge and scale the team.
  • Mentor and guide engineers, influence architecture and the product roadmap, and help define technical strategy.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional experience building backend services.
  • Experience designing, delivering, and maintaining customer-facing APIs.
  • Experience designing, building, and deploying cloud-native microservices.
  • Strong focus on automated testing alongside feature development.
  • Experience building and supporting services from scratch over a meaningful period of time.
  • Interest in code quality and infrastructure.
  • Experience performing on-call support for production systems.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, and operating systems; a formal CS degree is not required.
  • Experience building complex distributed systems.
  • Preferred experience with C++ or Go.
  • Preferred experience with Kubernetes.
  • Preferred experience with GraphQL API design and implementation.
  • Preferred experience with gRPC API design and implementation.
  • Preferred experience with system security, including authentication, authorization, identity, and API keys.
  • Preferred background in finance or cryptocurrency industries.
