Description

  • Serve as the primary legal point of contact for all matters concerning the Portuguese entity, including representation in negotiations and mediation.
  • Conduct legal process mapping with Compliance and support risk assessments with the central Risk team when needed.
  • Draft, review, and implement action plans with Compliance and Risk to address identified shortcomings within specific timelines.
  • Support the development and implementation of proactive compliance plans based on current and upcoming legislation relevant to the business.
  • Manage the full spectrum of legal needs for the Portuguese entity, including sensitive and high-stakes disputes.
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks across employment, corporate, tech, and tax matters affecting Portuguese operations.
  • Provide legal support for corporate transactions and restructuring matters impacting the Portuguese entity.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on Portuguese legal concepts, risks, and compliance obligations in a clear and practical way.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with People, Product, Engineering, Compliance, Risk, and Finance teams.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with external counsel and global Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams.

Requirements

  • Portuguese legal qualification and Ordem dos Advogados registration.
  • 5-8+ years of post-qualification experience in corporate, labor, or regulatory law.
  • Experience in financial services or technology, preferably in a regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in compliance topics including GDPR, AML, and other relevant financial regulations.
  • Proven ability to identify legal risks and translate complex requirements into actionable plans.
  • Strong contract drafting, review, and negotiation skills across MSAs, NDAs, and vendor/client agreements.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with an agile, problem-solving mindset.
  • Experience advising on or supporting complex legal and compliance frameworks is preferred.
  • Interest in working at a pioneering global crypto company is preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific compliance considerations is preferred.
