Description

  • Develop research designs to evaluate federal, state, and local PK–12 education funding policies and estimate the cost of an adequate and equitable education.
  • Build knowledge and innovations related to strategic funding for students receiving special education, English learners, and students in career and technical education.
  • Support policymakers in analyzing funding approaches that improve low-performing schools and districts.
  • Manage or lead projects and tasks, with increasing responsibility for project management over time.
  • Analyze financial and administrative data from education institutions using education finance research and statistical methods.
  • Collect primary-source data on resources, needs, and evidence-based resource allocation strategies used by education organizations.
  • Prepare technical reports, policy briefs, and other written materials for policymakers and decision makers.
  • Present findings to clients, professional associations, and the public.
  • Participate in, and where appropriate lead, research proposal development to secure external funding.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff by providing feedback and problem-solving support.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D., or a master’s degree with 4-7 years of demonstrated experience, in education policy, economics, or a related social science field.
  • Expertise in the economics of education, education finance, and/or educational policy, including conducting education research.
  • Knowledge or experience analyzing primary and administrative data, especially fiscal data.
  • Demonstrated experience collecting and analyzing primary and secondary educational data, including school and district expenditure data.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with non-technical audiences.
  • Expertise in advanced statistical methods, including regression models, rigorous program evaluation design, and longitudinal data analysis.
  • Expertise in using AI models to analyze education finance data for policy and resource decision-making at the state and district levels.
  • Proficiency in a commonly used statistical application such as Stata or R, with openness to learning new statistical tools as needed.
  • Advanced expertise in MS Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Specialized knowledge in funding models for students with disabilities, English learners, and students in career and technical education is preferred.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.
  • Employment-based visa sponsorship, including H-1B sponsorship, is not available.
  • Depending on project work, qualified candidates may need to meet certain residency requirements.

  • Anticipated annual salary range of $92,700 to $123,000 USD.
