Description

  • Plan, design, redesign, deliver, and assess teaching modules and programmes to meet learning objectives and quality standards.
  • Facilitate course sessions with students in person and virtually across trimesters.
  • Deliver learning through interactive classes, one-on-one coaching, written feedback, and analytical reporting.
  • Review student assignments and provide timely feedback aligned with assessment rubrics.
  • Hold weekly office hours to provide targeted academic support and coaching.
  • Coach and mentor students through their academic and leadership journeys, with emphasis on trade, finance, and policy application.
  • Support students in creating, executing, and refining mission-driven projects related to international trade and business.
  • Develop, implement, and review IBT course materials, including concept maps, learning resources, and assessments.
  • Collaborate with curriculum designers and subject matter experts to update content and align it with global standards and trade frameworks.
  • Maintain definitive course documentation, including handbooks, course guides, and programme outlines.
  • Supervise undergraduate students and provide advice on study skills, projects, fieldwork, and placements.
  • Conduct academic advising, including personal tutoring and capstone or project supervision.
  • Complete administrative duties related to teaching delivery and meet regularly with module and programme leads.
  • Participate in quality assurance processes such as programme reviews, student feedback sessions, and assessment moderation.
  • Identify students at academic risk using LMS data and other engagement indicators, and initiate interventions.
  • Build relationships with external stakeholders to enhance student learning experiences and internship opportunities.
  • Identify relevant trade datasets, databases, and analytical tools to support experiential learning and applied research.
  • Stay connected to local and international trade ecosystems and contribute insights to keep the programme industry-aligned.
  • Participate on the assessment board and contribute to decisions on student progress, awards, and academic performance.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field, with Rwandan equivalence required if the qualification is not from a Rwandan institution.
  • At least 2 years of closely related work experience in marketing, international relations, global business, finance, economics, trade policy, technology, data, or innovation.
  • Experience in education, including crafting learning outcomes and assessments.
  • Excellent coaching skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Mastery of English as the primary learning language at ALU.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze data quickly and determine appropriate academic support interventions.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize work, and work independently.
  • A startup mindset suited to scaling the programme to thousands of students within 12 months.
  • PhD degree in one of the highlighted areas is desirable.
  • Strong regional and international network with NGOs, startup incubators, accelerators, or similar organizations is desirable.
  • Experience in online teaching and learning delivery is desirable.
