Description

  • Lead, grow, and develop backend and platform engineering teams across API and usage platforms.
  • Own roadmap delivery, execution quality, and predictable outcomes for platforms serving multiple consumers.
  • Set direction for usage metering and AI credit accounting, including accuracy, auditability, latency, and cost.
  • Partner with Product to define roadmaps based on customer and product needs.
  • Hire engineers, maintain a strong recruiting pipeline, and raise hiring standards.
  • Establish API governance, versioning, backward compatibility, and reliable service contracts.
  • Own operational excellence through SLOs, observability, on-call health, and incident follow-through.
  • Partner with Finance, RevOps, and Pricing on consumption models, entitlements, quotas, overages, and reporting.
  • Develop senior individual contributors and technical leads while establishing succession and ownership plans.
  • Communicate technical trade-offs and risks to global technical and business stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Experience managing backend or platform engineering teams, including hiring, performance management, and career development.
  • Strong backend or distributed-systems engineering background with the ability to participate in design and code reviews.
  • Experience building product platforms or shared services used by multiple product teams.
  • Track record operating APIs at scale and strong knowledge of RESTful API design.
  • Experience with high-volume event ingestion, aggregation, and reporting systems.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and influence technical direction across teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with usage-based business models, including metering, rating, entitlements, quotas, or billing integrations (preferred).
  • Experience with AI cost, token, or credit accounting; agentic workflows; MCP; or GraphQL (preferred).
  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems, Platform/SRE collaboration, or globally distributed teams (preferred).
